Grammar Music

Kindergarten through 4th grade

The grammar music program at Regents introduces students to the gift of singing and music, primarily with the Kodaly and Orff methodologies.  Students learn the basics of melody and rhythm through instruments and their voices. Through performances, activities, games, and studies of composers students experience the joy and beauty of music, and that music, like all creativity, can be an act of worship.

Orchestra

Making music in an ensemble uses the intellect, the physical body, the ability to work cooperatively, as well as the creative and emotional capacities to produce results which will be evaluated by those who hear. Students will be exposed to a variety of musical styles which broadens their minds to different cultures and historical periods in the world. They will also increase their ability to read music notation.

Band

"The only thing that is second to the Word is music because it has the unbelievable ability to stir the heart and move the soul. It is one of the most magnificent and delightful presents God has given us."  This is R.C. Sproul’s reflection on Martin Luther’s thinking about music. It’s a wonderful reminder that learning to play a band instrument equips the young believer with another way to profess God's goodness and to profess His truths through solo and ensemble performances.

Choral Music

“Shout for joy to the LORD, O you righteous! Praise befits the upright. Give thanks to the LORD. Sing to him a new song; play skillfully on the strings, with loud shouts” (Psalm 33).  Regents Choral Program offers choir electives in 5th through 12th grade.

Dance

Classical dance pedagogy provides a foundation of classical ballet. It is aligned with the trivium in that it begins with memorizing fundamental terminology and its physical application through repetitive drills to encourage cognitive memory, muscular memory, and physical conditioning. Students' proficiency and creativity are demonstrated through performance opportunities and choreography projects. Using the techniques of ballet, jazz, modern, and theatrical dance, students will find joy in movement to bring glory to God through expressive and creative dance. 

Theatre

Whether your child is already a thespian who loves the limelight or someone who prefers to exercise your creativity backstage through design and execution, Regents theater has a place for them. In the Regents theater department, we seek to build wonderful relationships with each other while bringing God glory through our work.

Visual Art

We incorporate atelier training in drawing, painting, and printmaking to teach students to create well, use their imaginations for good, as we observe and learn from God and His creation. Art students learn traditional processes in multiple mediums to gain mastery. They learn observational skills, the canons of beauty, and timeless techniques. As they progress through the art program, we ask students increasingly to ponder, identify, and create themes that exemplify truth, beauty, and goodness in their work.
