  The Value of truth

Veritas

The Bible and the lamp symbolize truth which lies in scripture. In John 8:32, Jesus says that true disciples abide in His Word, and that "you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."

“At Regents, truth was poured into me for 13 years by godly men and women who were my teachers and coaches. It brings me immense joy to plant seeds of truth in the next generation.”

The Bible and the lamp symbolize the Latin word veritas, which means truth. God’s truth is objective and absolute, attested to by both the psalmist and Jesus, and grants freedom (John 8:32).  In addition to freedom, in knowing God’s truth we also gain wisdom and knowledge. Because God created all things, God knows the truth about all things: to seek to understand created things apart from God is an exercise in folly. Good stewardship requires that we seek to know the truth found in both God’s Word and God’s creation. Therefore, it is not only desirable, but also mandatory that we pursue truth in all fields of study, and that we regard this pursuit as a spiritual endeavor.
